SCHOOL UNIFORM
• Each learner must be dressed in proper school uniform
every day.
• School wear is available at any local shop. (Lorsons)
• All clothes and garments must be labeled clearly with the
learners’ name.
• Clothing inspections will be held regularly without prior
warning.
• New learners may wear the school uniform of their previous
school (for ± 3 months), or until they are able to acquire
the Goudwes school uniform.
• No HATS, CAPS OR HEAD BANDS are allowed during school
hours, breaks or in any classes. These items will be
confiscated until the end of each term.
• Only a plain black “blazer” is allowed (no cord or any
logos).
PREFECTS
• Prefect members and guardians will determine the dress
code.
SEUNS/BOYS
Summer and Winter months
* Shoes : Black laced-up school shoes (no slip-on).
* Socks : Are compulsory. Long black socks with a yellow
stripe.
* Jerseys : A black jersey/pullover with a yellow stripe
around the neckline and
wrist.
* Shirts : Bright yellow shirts (long or short sleeve).
* Trousers : Long or short black pants are permitted.
* Tracksuits : Provincial or school tracksuits may be worn
only on Friday’s and ONLY
DURING THE WINTER SEASON.
* Blazers : Only a black plain blazer with a Goudwes School
badge. No other
logos/cords.
* Drimacs : Only a black drimac without any inscriptions.
* Ties : A black tie with yellow stripes.
• NO JEANS or tracksuit pants are allowed
• No “tekkies” or “slippers” are allowed.
OVERALLS FOR THE BOYS’ WORKSHOPS
• It must be clearly marked/labeled.
• Is compulsory according to the safety rules/regulations.
• Overalls must be neat and clean every day.
BOYS: GENERAL PERSONAL APPEARANCE
HAIR
• Hair is not allowed to touch the collar
of the shirt at the back. (This includes the “African”
braided hair).
• Hair is not allowed to touch the ears.
• No “African” braided pony tails or any other pony tails
are allowed.
• Hair must always be neat and clean.
• No colouring of hair, high-lights or bleaching of hair is
allowed.
• “Gel” or “mousse” is permitted for a “wet look” style but
not for any other outrageous styles. (No “dreadlocks”/“Afro
look” or “Rasta look” are allowed).
• No “under cuts” or any patterns cut into the hair line are
allowed.
• A moustache or any facial hair is not allowed.
CLOTHING
• No casual wear like jeans or sport shirts are allowed
during school hours.
• Only the prescribed school uniform is allowed with proper
school shoes.
• No “tekkies” or “slippers” are allowed.
• Boys are not allowed to wander around in their overalls
during breaks or class hours.
NAILS
• Nails, especially pinkie nails, must be short and clean.
• No nail polish is allowed.
JEWELLERY
• No bangles, rings, chains, earrings, eye-, tongue, or nose
rings, are allowed.
• A wristwatch is allowed.

DOGTERS/GIRLS:
Summer and Winter months

yellow stripe.

around the neckline
and wrist.
* Shirts : Bright yellow short or long sleeve shirts are
allowed.
* Skirts : Only black skirts. Skirts may not be shorter than
8cm above the
knee when kneeling on the floor.
* Trousers : Black school pants only.
* Tracksuits : Provincial colours can only be worn on
Fridays. (ONLY DURING
THE WINTER SEASON.)
* Skirts : A Black pleaded or 6-panel skirt is allowed.
* Blazers : A black blazer with only a Goudwes School badge.
No other
logos/cords.
• NO BLACK JEANS or tracksuit pants are allowed.
• No “tekkies” or “slippers” are allowed.
• Only a plain black cap (“beanie”) are allowed during the
winter season.
GIRLS: GENERAL PERSONAL APPEARANCE
HAIR
• Hair must be clean and neat at all times.
• Hair that touches the collar must be tied up or
plaited/braided.
• Fringes must be pinned away with ordinary hair pins.
• Only ribbons/hair pins in yellow, red, black or white are
permitted.
• The colouring of hair, “high-lights”/bleaching of hair are
not allowed.
• “Gel” or “mousse” is permitted for a wet look.
• One or two ponytails are allowed.
• No coloured extensions or coloured wigs are allowed in the
hair.
JEWELLERY
• Only the following jewellery is allowed.
- a wrist watch.
- one signet ring.
- one pair of ordinary gold or silver ringlets or studs for
pierced ears. (Only one earring per ear.)
• No bangles, chains, rings (except a signet ring) tongue-,
eye-, or nose rings are allowed.
MAKE UP
• No make- up (e.g. eye liner, mascara, eye-shadow or
foundation) is permitted.
NAILS
• Nails must be short and clean.
• Only colourless nail varnish is permitted.
• No glitter or coloured nail varnish is allowed.
